A bit more color....

A few more washes. But I fear this may be going the way of Wally's fortune. (see comments below) It is so easy to over paint a water color. It is only 4" x 6" and I think I am trying to cram 9" x 12" detail into it.

Still haven't toched the water. :-)

No it ISN'T! Don't pay any attention to the Evil StepWally. It is going beautifully and you have kept freshness in spite of time and size limitations. I would (but I am probably the only one who would) take a brush tipped in alizarin crimson and a little water and make a glazed irregular overlay there on the greenery, at its edge, just to give it a little dimension and oomph. Then you could make a few warm red suggestions here and there in the rocks, too. Of course, I know you are an absolute wizard at painting and will do a fantastic Chuck Rose job without any help (?) at all. But these posts in series are fun because they make you wonder what you'd (I'd) do if you (I) were there. Another cliff hanger! Hurry up, C!

Girl you get up WAY too early. But thanks for the suggestions. I will try it.

I don't know Laura. I think I'm with Wally on this one. One misplaced stroke and it's all over. But Chuck, you do what you think is right. We have FAITH in you. tick tick tick...

gorgeous, gorgeous.

seriously tho, this is great to watch. I am learning a lot from this series. You are a very patient man. I just throw paint all over the paper and cross my fingers.

You guys are cracking me up. Amanda, I wish my approach was more like yours. I don't know why, but I have a hard time not breaking my technique down into this complex process of applying the color slowly and carefully.

I'm trying to paint more directly but I'm finding it difficult. maybe I need to go back to oils and do more direct work.

Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Laura, you aren't the only one who would do the AC thing in the green ... then overlay it with another bit of green to hide it ... and then, if you've REALLY screwed it up you can relax and do whatever you want to do next!
:-)
Oh, what a position you've put yourself in, Chuck!
(It looks wonderful so far, by the way.)

Oops, painting by committee! See what you've done, buddy :D. We're all just static out here in the Great Scheme of Things. Om, Chuck, Om. Breathe, Chuck, breathe.

Chuck's Note to Self: next time, post Stages-of-Painting images AFTER finishing the painting ;D.

Oh God, not the water. That's the really hard part, isn't it? I heard that's like the hardest thing to paint...water. eek.

Oh God, the pressure. I swear you'll see the final on this tonight or tomorrow morning. It's just been a hech of a week.

Why do I sound like I'm talking to clients? :-)

And why am I stressing over a little 4 x 6 sketch? :-)
