Starting a new painting. This time with real paint! You may have seen my earlier post of the iPhone version of this image. It worked well as a color study, but there is nothing like the smell of oil paints and mineral spirits.
This color study is 9.5 x 6" on masonite. The final will be 48 x 30" on canvas.

I really like this.
These Iphone sketches of yours inspired me to get the brushes app. I figured that since I can use Corel painter and photoshop pretty well using my Iphone as a little electronic sketchpad would be a snap. Not so. Your work is exceptional!
Thanks Neil,
It helps to zoom in and out a lot. I also use a stylus, which has its own challenges, but is easier to use than your finger.
The main thing is to worry about color and draftsmanship.
I have to say, I quite like this in its current state :) It nearly looks finished
Is there any way we can watch you paint on your Iphone? I believe I would like to see that.
I love the movement in this piece!
A fresh underpainting is always fun to look at and the challenge is to keep this loose and fresh look after application of several paint layers -- I also notice that "there is nothing like the smell of oil paint and mineral spirits" Oil paint I grant you is the king of paint and a joy to the olfactories - however Mineral Spirits is for removal of hardened and stubborn paint and should only used outdoors and NEVER on canvas - it will deteriorate your support faster than you can paint it - plus Mineral Spirits will destroy brain cells.
Good afternoon all, glad to find this website interesting as ..
Beautiful and fascinating
