Back from the beach....

Dusty on the Beach

We returned this evening from a week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. An annual trip we take with my wife's family. As usual, it was a relaxing time with days filled with time at the beach and evenings having large meals with a large family. We had a few rainy days, so I tried to sketch as much as I could. Here's a sketch of one of my favorite models. You all have seen him before.

This trip is one of Dusty's favorites every year. He is such a water dog. The first day he actually jumped the gate on the deck of our beach house to get down to the ocean. He pulled a muscle and limped the rest of the day, but I know he would do it again in a heartbeat.

Dusty looks very contented there! Nice job. Ripley continually limps after she runs all over the yard but she does it anyway. I guess dogs are just like that.

One of the very happiest times of our dear Mollie's life was a trip to the beach--- but I've found it hard to find places that accept dogs. My husband and I just found some cabins in the mountains of NC that do, so we want to take our puppy Abby soon! Great Dusty sketch, as usual!

Great to have you back Chuck and I love seeing Dusty pics. Dusty looks in his element in this one. :o)

Hi you guys! Dusty will stay down at the beach all day if I let him. When it's time for him to go back to the house, I give him a "Come!" command and he SLOWLY walks to me with his head down as if I am making him walk to his own death. But he does it anyway, because I know he wants to please me more than anything.

What a small world, huh? We're up in Duck. I'll be down next summer.

Hey, your sketches on your blog are looking really great. Was that a self portrait I saw in there?

Dusty is just a dog after my own heart. What a fun pet! Sounds like he'd get on wonderful with my Bentley Golden. We have to try and catch our dog in the pool to drag him out to dry, or he'd stay in all day. Your watercolor sketch is great!

I enjoyed your vacation drawings very much! Dusty looks like he had a winderful time. My dog loves to swim too--now that he is older I have to remember to end our fetch games because he will keep going till he can barely walk later in the day.
