Illustration Friday Challenge: Sport

It was fitting to come back from my vacation at the beach to this topic. I thought this sketch would fit in pretty well. I don't know who the lady is, but she, may son and our dog were just about the only ones on the beach early in the morning when I did this. The early morning light was great.

This one is very nice too! Did you do a (light) pencil sketch first and then add watercolor on top? Cheers.

Hey Evy,
Yes, I do light pencil sketch first to get my drawing problems out of the way. Then I go back with the water color and solve color and value problems.

Funny thing is, when I work in oil, I 'sketch' with my brushes and get into the color faster.

Boy, look at that light. A little gem, Chuck. It takes me right to the beach at Ocracoke.

So very nice Chuck. What a great piece. I love the light, and the colors, and the "touch" you have. Really evokes a nice feeling. Well done!

This is why watercolor is my favorite!! Lovely Chuck! I think there is something to be said for water being the element of emotion and watercolors being a superb medium for bringing one's emotions back to a place and time.

Chuck! Glad to see you back and to see that you had a good time at the beach (and what a great beach you chose to go to, too!) This watercolor is FANTASTIC -- it is a "hanger" in my opinion! Love the light and the mood -- you captured the contrasts that tell the viewer exactly what time of day it was, too .. VERY nice!

This is one stunning watercolour and I agree with Linda, definitely a 'hanger". I would gladly have this one hanging on my wall. Your work is wonderful Chuck.
