Coleus - Step Three

Click for larger image

I apologize for the lighting of this photo, but when the paint is wet it's hard to get a shot without glare.

I added some more darks in the background and started blocking in the shodows on the plant. Still trying to capture the value scale before I put the paint on in earnest.

So, which post do we go to when we want to say "WOW! That looks really good!"
:-D Really. It does!

More Chuck Rose chiaroscuro!! I love the way you use lights and darks for drama--you did it in the pirate and the King Lear one, too. It is fun to see this treatment used painting an organic object--makes you really think about what is going on. Great work, there, mister.

again beautiful rich colors! really like the strong contrast of light and shade, wonderful effect of a small shaft of sunlight peeking through something partially closed

This is great Chuck. Really nice. Big fan of coleus by the way. Always such wild colors. Hope I get to see this is person.

Thanks Amanda, I hope you get to see it too. But Wally's right, I'm going so slow on this piece it may never be done. Life is so busy right now I'm having trouble finding time to paint.

But I guess that's why I named this blog what I did, huh?

Thanks for the kind words!
