What is WRONG with me?!

I'm sitting in the Editorial planning meeting today, paying attention as usual. I started doodling this nice, benign Native American. He started out as just a pair of eyes but before I knew it he had a head band and braids.

Now, that was OK. We were talking about information graphics for the Olympics and the planning was going smoothly. Then my hand was gripped by some mysterious force and these big, baggy blank eyeballs appeared below Tonto and took on it's own life. (or death as the case may be)

I mean how bizzare? That this odd couple would end up neighbors on a page from my notepad. Makes me wonder what's wrong with me. What's going on in that head of mine.

Boy, just look at all the notes I took!

You did that spontaneously? That's awesome. Lol. And to know that you did that in a meeting makes it all the more funnier.

Yes, I can see that the meeting was time well spent-- hahahaha!
Yeah, it can be really weird to just be innocently doodling along and then "Egads! Where did that come from?"

After I did this I thought about you Carolyn. Because I realized I was creating characters and not drawing from life like I usually do.

It was fun even if it is creepy.

I would have guffawed out loud (is there any other way?) once I'd seen what I'd done in the second face! Did you?

No. But the guy sitting next to me did!

Do not ... I repeat ... do not show this to a psychiatrist!
:-D Seriously, its fun to see what other people doodle. Even if parts of it are creepy. (Your words, not mine!)

I could have sworn you were channeling Don Martin in that first Native American drawing. Research guys never have good notes like this.

OMG Dr. Research! You just took me back to my youth! And Ithink you made some deep psycological connection. I used to draw Don Martinesque cartoons for hours on end when I was a kid. But at the age of 44 I didn't see his influence coming out in me. How wild is it that someone else can spot that in your work.

You're better than I thought!

this is hysterical Chuck. I try REALLY hard not to think about where my peeps come from. I advise you to do the same.

Monster is great. No so fond of the American Indian characature. Although I dont like the Cleveland Indians mascot either. But the monster is great. love it!

It's a speciel story about your meeting - I do understand, the one beside you looked for your notes.
Is the skull like the indian skull, when he's grown old and dead? They look a bit alike - thanks for the story and your notes.
