Up for bidding!

Yes, yes. I know you just saw this painting recently. But I got curious about the whole EBAY thing. So I decided to put it up for auction. Call me a sell out, but I just wanted to see if I'd get a nibble.

You can bid on this painting here.

When I read this: "I'm a man in his 40's with a day job that keeps me pretty busy. At the same time I try to maintain my pursuit of painting. Landscapes seem to be what keeps me occupied in my spare time. The problem is, I don't have any spare time." I thought that this little story was about me, but it was'nt. And I think you are doing a great job here. Nice paintings!

For now I paint from photos. Only the still lifes are from life. I think I am not quite ready to paint in the field. I first want the painting skills and the colours all right before I take the step. And I am training myself to make each painting in about two hours, just to make sure not to make the paint dead. I am trying to paint in a impressionistic way.

Hey jiddje,
Looks to me like you are ready to paint in the field. You seem to have color mixing down. I say go for it. What's the worse that can happen? You make a bad painting? Haven't we all?

Oh no -- not eBay! ;-D
(But at least you started out with a reasonable bid.) Take this baby to a gallery / framery / whatever you want to call it. I'll bet it will get snatched up...

I'm beginning to think you're right Linda. This was a bad idea.

Hi Chuck. I've never commented here before but I posted one of your beautiful drawings (Fred and Ginger) on my blog (and linked to you of course).

I popped back here today to see that you have tried selling your art on ebay. Do you mind me asking why you think it was a bad idea? The reason I ask is because an artist friend of mine is thinking of trying to sell her art on ebay, but I was wondering if she would be better off trying to sell it through a blog, as I have seen another blog like that and some of the art has sold. Have you tried selling your art through your blog?

I wonder... where is Chuck? You paint so well! I only hope you are to busy doing other stuff.

Why is selling art on eBay 'selling out'? I cannot imagine an argument with a sound enough premise to make a case for such an idea.

How did your eBay experiment go? Did you sell the painting?
