Bad hair day
So I am diggin' this new approach. I thought this image of my youngest son would be interesting rendered in this style. He's been growing his hair out - we all wanted to when we were 13 - and it payed off. He got up one morning and came in to our bedroom with a head of hair that seemed to be exploding from his scalp. It was great. I'm known for my own bedhead, but this was a record breaker.
So here is C in this new style of drawing...painting...sketching
And here's the original pen & ink drawing that started it. Which brings me to another point. My other son asked me why do we say pen and ink when we just use a pen to do the drawing? "Good question", I said, "now go to bed."
Anyway, here's the "pen" drawing I started with for this post.

good point, we don't do a pencil and graphite, or a brush and watercolor............anyway, another wonderful drawing on your part. Your son is a cutie...he'll have to beat the girls away...but probably won't!
I don't think he has even considered beating the girls away! I'm in trouble. What's a Dad to do....
I was wondering. I didn't think you were even CLOSE to a CPA.
But thanks. Coming from a CPA like you, it means a lot.
What a treat to see this drawing early in the morning! Great composition, great color, great lines--just all around great job! I love seeing how much fun you're having.
Hummm....so do we say "pen and ink" to clarify from "brush and ink" which certainly is a different technique? Rats...I don't even own a shortened version of the OED to check.
Dusty
wonderful portrait Chuck, beautiful colors, like the way you've rendered the hair especially.
Really love this. You guys HAVE to teach me how to do this. I esp. like the highlighted accent touches. Cute boy, must be the cute dad and mom's fault. Struppelpeter! (Sp!) You know that sick, sick German children's book? (Shock-headed Peter in English).
Struppelpeter! Tell me more. I've never heard of this.
Bill, do you mean me or your brother?
Don't answer that Bill......LOL you can't win.
Great drawing - great colour! Nice work in a new style.

It's Struwwelpeter in German and Shock headed Peter in English. Wonderful dark stories of terrible things that happen to children. Your son's hairstyle is a bit like Peter's
Now I get it. Thanks Julie. I can't wait to read tge story.
Beautiful! It's an incredibly powerful portrait. The expression on his face, that look in his eyes is very intense. Love it!
