Rock Out!
Click for a larger image
This weekend my oldest son's rock band made their world debut at a birthday party, in a hall with tons of screaming girls, baloons, food, the works. This is not a sketch of my son, that will come later. This is a sketch of the band's drummer Ricky while he detached himself from his drum set, came forward and sang a Pink Floyd song for all us old farts in the audience. He was great. More sketches to come.
My visually artistic son, C did nail it however. One look and he said, "The chin is too long Dad." He's right it is.

This is SO FABULOUS!! Chuck, I'm stunned! I know how talented you are, of course, but I also know how you don't much like drawing *in public right? I tell you, you and Cin are showing me up bad, with your performer drawings! Can't wait to see the rest. The linework here is to die for.
*I know the party wasn't a huge public event, but still... .
I loved it.

Terrrific! And what a parental rite of passage, attending your son's first gig. But you'd better speak to Harry about this. Before you know it, it'll be nothing but limousines, long legged babes and Courvoisier for those boys!
Dear Dr. Research,
I'm counting on it.
wow Chuck, just wow! that linework and shading is fantastic!
Great drawing.
Chuck -- this is great, and we wouldn't have known that the chin was too long if you hadn't told us! Isn't it cool when our kids accomplish something they really really want? I'll bet you were so proud!
fantastic - a really great drawing. looks a little like Keanu Reeves no? I think I have a new crush........
Sorry Lydia. He's only 14. But he'll be thrilled by your comment none the less....
what a great picture, looks like a little bit of hendrix mixed with a little bit of native american.
never stopped me before dear...
Excellent work, Chuck! I'm back at trying to be like you. Just wanted to let you know.
Sketches and Stuff
Chuck, it just occured to me that you may be reading my comments about wanting to "be like you" in a negative light. Just wanted to let you know it's meant purely as a compliment. Of all the artists whose work I enjoy online, I find yours most appealing. Just thought I'd let you know.
Crap. You guys aren't going to lety me slide through the holidays are you? I am so screwed to the walls these days. But let's see how the weekend plays out. (Ha!)
But thanks for the motivation Hoss.
Stunning drawings. I particularly like the one of your son with his hair!!! I also like the idea of drawing, scanning and then doing the colour work. Stunning dramatic results.
