I have been so busy commuting to and from work, being a dad and husband the past few days, I haven't had time to work on Captain Chris since Monday night. I hope to get back to it, and hopefully finish it this weekend. In the meantime, I thought I would share something I have been having fun with lately. Meeting Doodles!
At my day job I attend a lot of meetings. I just can't seem to keep my hand off my notepad while the meeting is going on. I'm paying attention to what's going on, but the doodles seem to find their way onto the page while I am talking/listening. Sometimes they are sketches of people in the room, and sometimes they are just made up.
But to make it more fun, I have started to scan my doodles into my Mac and then print them out on water color paper. The I go at them with water colors and a bush. You can enjoy a little series of them by

It's quick and satisfying.

Your doodles are so much nicer than mine, which always seem to be great curving architectural THINGS around words on the page -- sheesh! I like the idea of scanning doodles out on watercolor paper for painting, though. Very original! ... and Batman? really? what was THAT meeting about? :-)

OMG Chuck, I LOVE your meeting doodles! Although I am rarely in a meeting at work I will have to find some other opportunities to do this! It could be a fun way to practice with watercolors in a spontaneous and non-intimidating way. I'm sure from what you have seen of MY stuff, I LOVE characters and yours are just wonderful. It's fun to see this side of your work.
BTW, not much studious drawing on my end this week, but that's ok, I've still made some time to draw and journal. No 3-day weekend for me: retail blows!
I don't think my doodles would do well at meetings so I'm a solitary desk doodler. Your doodles are wonderful (actually all your work is wonderful). I'll be back for more.
Well janey, the trick is to look like you are taking very serious notes while you are doodling and make eveyone think that what they are saying is so important that you must jot down their every word.
The hard part is you still have to pay attention in case you are called on to answer a queston or something...
